On June 21, 2022, Lenore passed away peacefully at the age of 85, looking forward to joining her soulmate, Harland, for eternity. She is survived by her three sons, Roger (Joanne), Neil, and Cliff (Lois); her five grandchildren, Brett (Chrissy), Brooke (Jason), Brita (Jordan), Marissa, and Mathew; five great-granddaughters, Natalie, Charlotte, Aubrey, Savannah, and Ivy, and one great-grandson, Wyatt. She was predeceased by her great-granddaughter Sophie.
Lenore was born in Preeceville, SK on May 9, 1937, the “baby” in a blended family of 12 children. She had a happy childhood and loved her hometown and being the daughter of the local butcher/grocer. She obtained her teaching certificate in Saskatoon and took her first teaching job in a one-room schoolhouse in Reserve, SK.
She met the love-of-her-life, Harland, who she married in 1960 and followed to Moorhead, Minnesota where the two began their family. Lenore was a devoted, protective, and selfless “Mother Bear” to her three sons. She was an amazing homemaker and hostess, creating a cozy and welcoming home for her family and guests. She loved being involved in the lives of her five grandchildren and delighted in holding the newborn great grandbabies as they arrived. Music was an important part of her life and, right to the end, she would beautifully serenade her family with old favourites on the piano.
Lenore and Harland were inseparable during their 61 years of marriage and enjoyed many adventures RV’ing throughout Canada and the US as well as trips abroad. Lenore was a lost soul after Harland’s passing in February 2022. She was a Christian of strong faith and lived in peace knowing with certainty where she was going after her time on earth was over.
The Family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Diamond House and Royal University Hospital Medicine Dept. as well as to Pastor Ron Bestvater for their care and compassion.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Lenore’s life will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 323 4th Ave. S. in Saskatoon on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lenore’s memory may be made to Alzheimer Society Saskatchewan at https://alzheimer.ca/sk/en/take-action/donate.
