Irene passed away peacefully on December 4, 2010 at the age of 96. She is predeceased by her parents and sister, and her husband, Gordon Reed. She is survived by her son Ross (Judy) Reed and her daughter Loda Mae (Ron) Voisey; grandchildren Heather (Dwayne) Howatt, Erin (Rob) Loomer, Matthew Reed, and Ann (Jason) Ward; great-grandchildren Macy and Ellis Howatt, Isla Loomer and Jordan Ward.
Irene was born in Ruddell, Saskatchewan and at a young age moved to Loreburn with her family. She married Gordon Reed in Loreburn on October 31, 1940. Irene and Gordon farmed in Loreburn until 1967 when they retired in Saskatoon. Irene was a total multi-tasker and could work circles around anyone. She was an excellent baker with gourmet cookies being her specialty. She made the kind of cookies that took 5 minutes each to make and 5 seconds each to eat. Irene’s motto of “family first” was constant throughout her life and continued on even during her own health struggles in her final days. She was so thrilled to be a great grandmother and loved to spend time with the little ones.
A Service of Remembrance was held Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre
(915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon) officiated by Joan Brown. Arrangements were in care of
Tammy Ferrier 955-1600.
