Louise passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She was born January 9, 1934, in Saskatoon, the daughter of Martin and Lucienne (Deschamps) Dogniez. At the age of 7, when her mother passed away and while her father was called to serve in the army, Louise was raised by family members and boarded at the convent in Prud’homme. In 1956, she married René Sirois and they had 5 children: Marcel (Alice), Denise (Robert) Cousineau, Raymond (Carol), Ronald (Jocelyne), and Renée (Todd) Valentino. She was proud of her 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Louise worked as a secretary prior to her marriage, and in the early 70´s returned to work in a law office until 1975. She also worked as a teacher’s assistant for many years at École St. Paul School and for the Saskatchewan Securities Commission, but her greatest accomplishment and passion was her family.
Louise was at her best organizing and preparing meals which brought together family and friends. She will always be remembered for her soups and her food care packages. Louise was a lifetime member of Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens parish, from baptism onward, and served her parish community in innumerable ways over the years.
Selfless and hard-working, she enjoyed simple pleasures. She loved music and danced beautifully with René. Louise had a curious mind, read avidly and valued education. She was dedicated to caring for others: her two younger brothers, her own father in his later years, her beloved husband, and children.
Louise was predeceased by her husband René and son Marcel.
The family extends its thanks to Oliver Lodge for the kindness and care provided to Louise in her final years as she declined in health due to dementia.
