Madeleine Denis

March 12, 1949 – Aug. 4, 2016

It is with great sadness that Madeleine’s family announces her passing on Aug. 4, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband Gédéon; father Henri; and brothers Julien and Daniel. Mourning her passing are her children Alain, René, Patrick (Amanda), Guy (Lisa) and Luc (Sherrill); grandchildren Parker, Gabrielle, Aiden, Quinn and Marlise; her mother Juliette; brother Lucien (Nicole); sisters Murielle (Normand), Jeannine (Wilfrid) and Valérie; brother-in-law Maurice Levesque; sisters-in-law Laurie Poulin and Gisèle Pereira; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Née à Zénon Park, elle a élevé ses cinq garçons sur la ferme à St. Denis avant de déménager à Saskatoon. Madeleine était le pilier de sa famille, toujours patiente, à l’écoute, encourageante et prête à offrir son soutien; son foyer était le centre de rencontre de sa famille. Her sons always knew her unconditional support was only a phone call away. A gentle and loving person, her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren. Never wanting to be the center of attention, she provided quiet support to her mother, siblings, prayer group and numerous groups of friends. Madeleine’s love of family and her profound Catholic faith were the center of her life. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, her faith guided her throughout her life, especially in the loss of family members, in particular her spouse Gédéon, and throughout her brief illness which sadly took her away much too soon. The Family wishes to thank the nursing staff at RUH for their compassionate care. The Vigil for Madeleine will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9. Both services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (12th St. E. and Wiggins). Following the reception, a Private Family Committal will take place at St. Denis Parish Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
