With profound sadness we announce the passing of Madelene, our loving and thoughtful mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on March 14, 2019. She was born on February 27, 1925 in Saskatoon, SK and she left us peacefully at St. Joseph’s Special Care Home in her 94th year. She was the beloved mother of Lauralee (Stan) and Geordie (Liz), proud and cherished grandmother of Joel (Ashley) and Lee (Kayla). She took extreme pride in her children, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents William Alfred and Millie McBrien and step-mother Margie, husband Lester of 61 years, brothers Ernie McBrien, Hughie Squarebriggs, Eldred McBrien and sister Marjorie. Madelene lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and a worker for the Court Houses, Antique Shop and Progressive Conservative Party. She was a member of the Cara Amica Club and the Red Hat Society. She loved to love people, cook, keep an immaculate house and cabin and was highly skilled in knitting and needlepoint, and she enjoyed her outings. Most of all Madelene loved her family and instilled strong values in them. She will be dearly missed and forever in the hearts of those that knew and loved her. The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Special Care Home staff who took great care of her, along with others that helped immensely. A Celebration of Madelene’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor St.) in Saskatoon. The Interment will be held at a later date.
