Maria Elizabeth van Meegen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Maria on December 10, 2022. Maria was born March 9, 1931, in Maastricht, The Netherlands, to Leo and Josephine Fey. After growing up in the midst of WWII, she met and married the love of her life, Hendrikus (Harry) Van Meegen. Shortly after their marriage, they emigrated to Canada, settling in Saskatoon where they enjoyed a prosperous and happy life with their two daughters; Josephine and MaryAnne. Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry in 2010, and also by her parents Leo and Josephine Fey; and her brother, Matt Fey, as well as son-in-law Lionel Dionne. Left behind to mourn her passing are daughter Josephine (Bob), grandson Shane Dionne (Heather), and granddaughter Genevieve Dionne (Benjamin); as well as daughter MaryAnne (Ernie), granddaughter Erica Emery (Kirk and children Tilda and Hendrik), grandson Nicholas Emery (Sam), and grandson William Emery (Lee and Kiki); as well as her many friends. Special thanks to Myrtle for her kind care and friendship. A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria will be celebrated on Saturday June 3, 2023. We invite her friends and loved ones to join us. The service will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (217 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon) at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations are greatly appreciated to a charity of choice in Maria’s memory.
