It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Hegel. Marilyn was born in Melfort and grew up in Prince Albert; however, her true home was always Waskesiu. Marilyn spent much of her life at the lake and was blessed enough to be still living in her favourite place until shortly before her passing.
Marilyn touched the lives of many. She was nicknamed "Mother Marilyn" as she took on that role for many of the young people who summered in Waskesiu, lending a listening ear and advice, a hug, and even her home to those that needed it.
Marilyn was predeceased by her father, Harold Orr, mother, Lydia Orr, sister-in-law, Judy Orr, and brother, Delbert Orr. She will be greatly missed by her children, Jason and Jennifer Hegel, daughter in-law, Danielle Levesque; her granddaughters, Lydia and Avery Hegel-Levesque; her siblings, Gerry (Janice) Orr, Karen (Steve) Webster, and Cheryl (Ron) McEwen, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Marilyn's Life will be held at a later date in Waskesiu. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Waskesiu Fire Department.
