It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Auntie Marion. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Katie (nee Temple) Piller, her only sibling Allan Piller, sister in law Lois and sister in law Ruth and her nephew Lonnie Piller.
She will be greatly missed by her Niece-in-law Lyndi (Lonnie) Piller, Niece Leanne (Mel) Prokop, and Niece Alana (Kelly) Cornwell and their families.
Marion was born on December 11, 1931 in Melville and lived there until she moved to Regina in 1955. She became a legal secretary and later began working in the PFRA lands division as a forms and systems analyst until she retired in 1988. During her time in Regina she was also a member of the Militia CWAC attached to the Regina Rifles Regiment. After her parents passed away, Marion moved to Saskatoon in 1998 to be close to her nephew Lonnie and niece Leanne and their families, purchasing a condo in the Nutana area. Her youngest niece Alana and her family live in Lethbridge. Being actively involved in her church was always important to Marion, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melville, and Christ Lutheran Church in Regina and Augustana Lutheran Church in Saskatoon. Marion was very philanthropic in her nature and supported many causes and charities throughout her life. Some of her favorite past times were watching figure skating, playing scrabble and cards, as well as doing needlepoint and knitting. Later in life she discovered her passion for lawn bowling, leading her to compete at many tournaments in Canada, Arizona, and California. Marion moved into Luther Heights in 2012 and subsequently into Luther Care Home in 2019. She enjoyed her time at both and always praised the care she was given. We will remember our Aunt as the kind and generous person she was. The family will treasure her memory along with her special recipes for butter buns, egg noodles, and coffee cake.
Special thanks to the Luther Care Community and staff at RUH and St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Luther Care Communities, the ALS Society of Saskatchewan, or MS Canada.
A private family interment will be held in Regina at a later date this spring.
