FOSTER – Maurice “Mike” passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital on April 5, 2016, at the age of 86. Born April 3, 1930 in Gargrave, Yorkshire, England, Mike is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Carla (Skeeter), son Jeff (Thomas), grandchildren Taylor (Megan) and Kirstie, and numerous relatives and friends. Mike spent his early years in Yorkshire and moved to Canada at the age of twenty-one. He landed in eastern Canada and by the end of the following year he was out in Vancouver. There he met Constance (Connie) Dryhurst. They married in Deep Cove, BC and he lived a full life with Connie raising their children, enjoying their grandchildren, and being very actively involved serving their Lord in their church and community. Mike and Connie moved to Saskatoon in 2006 to be close to family. Mike’s life was one adventure and story after another, but his life long adventure was his commitment to his Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. Mike was a man with a big heart - he wanted to help whoever he could and was a great encourager. Now he is HOME, his earthly struggles are over and we look forward to our great reunion in heaven. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre, (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mike can be made to Circle Drive Special Care Home, 3055 Preston Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7T 1C3 or to Compassion Canada 985 Adelaide St S, London, ON N6E 4A3. Arrangements are in care of Martens Warman Funeral Home (306-934-4888) and Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (306-955-1600).
