It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Michael Simard of Loon Lake, SK on August 9, 2020. Michael passed away at St Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care after a courageous battle with Cancer. Michael was born on February 1, 1973 in Wadena, SK. He was predeceased by his mother Ruth Steadman. Michael is survived by his father Guy and step-mother Terry of Saskatoon, brother Marc Simard, nieces Willa and Beatrix of Toronto, sister Jeannette (Dean) Loucks, nephews Aidan and Kieran of Saskatoon. Michael is also survived by his step-brothers Mark Wanner, children Sawyer and Minna and Ben Wanner, children Kat and Neko of Saskatoon. Left behind are many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Also left to mourn are three true friends, Marc Butler of Loon Lake, Debbie Schmold of Comox and Andrew Cook of Saskatoon. Special thanks to Dr. Walker, Dr. Johnson, all the team at St. Paul’s Palliative Care, Dr. Haider, Nurse Dena, Dr. Moss, Dr. Fourney, Dr. Loback and Dr. Robinson. Michael will be remembered as a very friendly man with a big heart. He loved his family and all of his many friends. He was proud to work as a forest firefighter. During his career Michael fought fires in Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC and Quebec. His love and passion were sports cars. Although he never owned one, he especially had a love for Porsches.
