With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather on April 23 2025, at St. Paul’s Hospital, at the age of 93.
Born in Humboldt on September 18 1931, Dad was a kind, thoughtful, giving, and considerate soul. He was a man of quiet strength, saintly patience, and a memory that never faltered. His wisdom came not just from years, but from the way he lived—with grace, generosity, and deep care for those around him.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Bernice; his baby granddaughter; his parents, Frank and Hilda Miller; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Rose Miller; and his infant brother, Frank. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Donald Heeg and Arthur Heeg, and his sister-in-law, Betty Lou Heeg.
He leaves to mourn his daughters, Wanda and Lana; his cherished grandchildren, Michelle (Adrian), Nathan (Danielle), Jim (Amber), Kadin (Erica); and his beloved great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ava, Zoe, Harper, Jake, Laker, August, and Jaxon. He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Bob and David; his sister-in-law, Norma Heeg; and brother-in-law, Ron Heeg (Jeanne), as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dad welcomed his sons-in-law with open arms and treated every grandchild-in-law as one of his own. When the great-grandchildren came along, it was as though his heart grew even larger—he embraced being ‘Papa’ all over again, showering them (and even the grand-puppies) with boundless affection.
A man of many passions, Dad loved to curl, fish, hunt, draw, cook, share advice, and enjoy a cold ‘Blue.’ He spent 35 dedicated years with Labatt’s Brewery in Saskatoon before retiring. His truest joy, though, was time spent with his daughters and family—gatherings full of laughter, warmth, and the sound of his storytelling voice. His grandchildren remember him as ‘loving’, a ‘storyteller’, ‘cheerful’, ‘thoughtful’, ‘accepting', and ‘kind for sure’. Papa’s house was a place of comfort, fun, and endless love—where his language of affection was often spoken through thoughtful gifts and sweet surprises.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated home care and palliative care nurses, and to the compassionate doctors who supported him in his final days with such grace and care.
As per Dad’s wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Kyle Werminsky of Mourning Glory Acadia - McKague's Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dad’s memory to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care Unit.
