The death of Nellie Thomson occurred on Saturday November 20, 2010 at the age of 101 years. Nellie was born in Aberdeen, Scotland to Ann and Alexander Douglas.
She is survived by daughter Noreen Mills (Clayton), White Rock, B.C.;
sons Douglas Thomson (Sandra-deceased), Durban, South Africa,
William Thomson (Marie), Saskatoon, Sk., Leslie Thomson (Carol),
Saskatoon, Sk.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 3 great great
grandchildren and expecting 2 more great great grandchildren; sister
Elizabeth Summers and Sister-in-law Margaret Douglas.
Nellie was pre-deceased by husband William (1981), her mother and father,
brothers Leslie Douglas (Molly), Bill Douglas, sisters Winnifred Knox
(Frank), Edith Bruce (George), half brother Jim Stephen, and brother-in-law
Joe Summers.
Nellie immigrated to Canada in 1929. She married William Thomson in St.Walburg, Sask. in 1930. They raised their family in St. Walburg and retired to Saskatoon in 1974 where they resided for their remaining years.
Nellie was a very positive, energetic lady and was deeply devoted to her family. She will be sadly missed.
A Celebration of Nellie’s life will be held at Stensrud Lodge, 2202 McKeown Ave. on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Kurt Hartvicksen. Arrangements are in care of Tammy Ferrier Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre 955-1600.
