It is with sadness, that we announce the passing of Mike Williams on Thursday, August 10, 2023, after a dignified battle with cancer. Once previously married at an earlier age, that union produced two children, a daughter Darlene (Dale), and grandchildren Mallorie and Matthew, and great grandchild August. As well, as a son, Michael (Wanda). After settling in Saskatoon in 1972, he went on to marry his lifelong partner, Gerry Murphy, and for the next 48 years, they were inseparable, until his passing. Mike was born in Calgary, on April 5, 1940. He was the son of a military family. Following in that tradition, he proudly served, at a young age, in Canada’s armed forces for ten years. That experience would be defining for him throughout his life. As a man of disciplined heritage, he led a very disciplined life. While soft-spoken by some standards, he was quietly in possession of many talents and interests, to name a few; he was well known on the provincial dance circuit, and jamboree attendee, as an extremely gifted dancer, to which, he rarely missed a dance, and was often requested as a favored dance partner. He and Gerry, were avid bird watching enthusiasts. Their combined skills in botanical gardening, produced some of the city’s finest examples of flower, and vegetation displays to be found anywhere. Mike had a keen interest in aviation, and enjoyed flying remote control planes, and belonged to a club that supported that hobby. He loved photography, astronomy, and particularly, Mother Nature. Together with his wife Gerry, they owned and operated a successful accounting practice for decades, this produced many loyal customers as well as friends. Always, a perfect gentleman, one would be hard-pressed, to remember if they had ever heard him utter a curse word. Mike was a proud Canadian, who loved his country, and defended its honor at all times. He was a good son, faithful husband and partner, loyal father, respected brother-in-law, and welcomed by any, who had the opportunity to meet him. Mike’s request was to have no funeral service. Arrangements entrusted to Travis Minor.
