She is survived by her husband Ron, daughter Brenda (Dwayne) and favorite grandson Nathan (Callie), sister Louise (Ross), several brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Lorne Hodge, sisters Anita and Paulette, brothers Joseph (in infancy) and Robert.
Mom was born August 13, 1935 on the farm near Speers. She went to school at Hillsborough, a one room school about 3 miles from home. After graduating, she worked for a short time at the PA Sanatorium.
She married Lorne in 1954 and Brenda was born in 1956. They farmed until 1959 when Lorne’s health declined, at which time they moved to Saskatoon. Lorne passed away in 1965.
Mom worked for the Deer Lodge Motel (where the Travelodge now stands) for several years. She started working at Sears in 1967 until retirement in 1993.
In 1968, she married Ron. They shared 57 years of adventure: traveling, camping and spending time at their cabin at Turtle Lake.
When their grandson Nathan was born, he became the light of mom’s life. Whether it was going to the park, going to the beach or playing mud pies at the cabin or playing cars, whatever Nathan wanted to do, Grammie was game.
Mom moved to Porteous Lodge in March 2025. Words cannot express our gratitude for the loving care mom received while there.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or Porteous Lodge.
