With heavy hearts the family of Osburn Douglas Muri, announces his passing at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon.
Osburn came to live with the Muri family at age 4 ½ years. By that time, he had lived in many homes, so naturally he was concerned about this home. He was excited to have a family, a brother to share a bedroom with, a dog and cats to play with. His biological sister was adopted at the same time. Osburn was very shy around strangers, but the first time he met his uncle Ivan, he sensed a kindly person and went right over to lean against him.
Osburn grew up on the farm, and learned early to drive tractors and trucks, and handle machinery with ease. He seemed to instinctively know how to repair cars and machinery. He played hockey and other sports and made many friends on those teams. He quickly learned to water ski and swim. He and a friend reconstructed a basement bedroom and installed new ceiling tiles.
Friends and family were very important to Osburn. He made phone calls to his parents, daily, sometimes 3 to 4 times a day. He learned unwillingly to cook, but as an adult enjoyed barbecuing, and told his mom and sister that they didn’t know how to cook Kraft Dinner.
Music and art were his passions. Osburn could play guitar, piano and organ, write songs, and sing, without any training. He loved to draw.
The last few years of his life were spent living in the Lighthouse in Saskatoon until he went into hospital on the 27th of May. He had many close friends among the staff and the other residents, entertaining them with music, and with his sense of humour. He volunteered to help clean-up in the common room and cleared and wiped tables. Always generous, he gave away a new pair of winter boots to a man he saw walking in the snow in sock feet.
Osburn was predeceased by his brother Tulsa, and nieces Makayla and Alivia. He is survived by his parents, Philip and Pat, siblings Allison (Ray), Leanne (John), Miles (Pat), and Shannon; nieces Neaera (Eric) and their family Erimes, Castiel and Finnegan; Marya (Nathan) and their family Angelo and Mya; Lauren; nephews Aram; Koan (Cierra); Truman (Amy); and Kimiwan, Adam (Melissa) and their family Katherine and Benjamin, as well as a large extended family.
Arrangements entrusted to Aimé Laventure.
