With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and GG, on March 6th, 2024, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. AB.
Patricia Joan was born Nov. 13th, 1935, in Cupar, SK. After moving 12 times, within the province she graduated from an all-girls boarding school in North Battleford. Joan went on to study at the Saskatoon College of Business, where she obtained a business diploma.
Joan met her high-school sweetheart, Wesley Williams, when she was 15 years old and after 6 years they married in 1956. They were married for 47 years and raised their 3 children together in Saskatoon.
Joan, being the avid business woman she was, started with Eatons and then McMasters Photography in sales and found her passion in promoting hotels and restaurants across Canada.
Joan enjoyed her retirement years in Calgary, spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel and was always up for a good time. She would spend her days going to the legion, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, playing poker, visiting, and talking on the phone with her loved ones.
Joan was a pillar of strength and charm. Overcoming any obstacles that came her way, she endured the hardships that came with her 88 years. Joan’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the biggest sources of joy in her life. We will miss her quirky gifts, kind heart and “I know”s.
Joan is survived by her loving daughters Pamela (Brian) Edmison and Shannon Williams (Steve); her son Sheldon “Scott” (Sheri) Williams; and her beloved grandchildren Krystal, Kandace, Kaela, Keaton, Ryan, Brock, Blake, and Karlee. She also leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Joan was predeceased by many she loved, including her grandson Jevan.
No words can express how dearly you will be missed, Mom. Life will not be the same without you. Love you forever.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Make a Wish Foundation.
There will be a memorial service for Joan held on March 23rd, 2024, 1pm at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel with lunch to follow. A private interment will take place at a later date.
