

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Paul Wienen on Monday, March 30, 2015 at St. Paul’s Hospital, at the age of 85.
Paul was born on November 1, 1929, in Gemenwirthe, Germany to Heinrich and Maria Wienen. He was the fifth child in a family of eight. He grew up during World War II working on the family farm and also learning the trade of Bricklayer. After building the family home, he and a cousin came to Canada in 1953.
He worked in the Englefeld-Watson area for 3 months on the Herman Fetter farm. During this time he met the love of his life, Anne Behme. They married on May 21, 1957, in Romance, Saskatchewan. Paul enjoyed a 35 year career with Hagblom Contruction.
Paul had an immense love for his family. He spent countless hours enjoying family get togethers, dinners, time at the cabin, fishing, gardening and watching his grandchildren at hockey, football and soccer games. He was an active member of Council 5104 Knights of Columbus which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Paul was predeceased by his parents; six siblings; and his in-laws, Anton and Lena Behme. Paul is survived by his loving wife Anne; daughters Theresa (Rick) Saunderson, Carol (Mike) Wandler; grandchildren Matt and Mark Saunderson, Tara (Brad) Bouthillette, Tresa (Craig) Reinhardt, and Brittney Wandler; great-grandchildren Denee and Emrey Bouthillette, Nixon and Nash Reinhardt; one brother, Alois (Elisabeth) Wienen; and numerous nephews and nieces in Germany; brothers-in-law Joe Behme, John (Jan) Behme; sister-in-law Maryann Behme; and his nieces Lisa (Bart) Warner & family, Sheryl (Steve) Hewko & family, and Sheena (Steve) Sellers.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 10:00am from St. Philip Neri Parish (1902 Munroe Ave South). Special thanks to Dr. Gebhardt, nurses Corrine and Vera, and staff at St. Paul’s Hospital. Donations in Paul’s memory can be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation (1702 - 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9).
