July 14, 1932 - November 27, 2014
Robert (Bob) Nels Pearson passed at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on November 27th, 2014 at the age of 82 years. He is survived by his son Brad (Kathy) of Prince Albert and grandchildren Adam (Kelsey) of Prince Albert and Ellen (Cody) of Saskatoon; his son Brent of Saskatoon; his son Bruce of Saskatoon and grandchildren Josh of Vancouver, BC, and Jayde of Saskatoon. He is also survived by his sisters Blanche (Orv) of Edmonton, and Helen (Doug) of Innisfail, brother Bill (Phyllis) of Calgary, brother-in-law Alex of Kindersley, and numerous lifelong friends we consider family. He was predeceased by his wife Betty earlier this year and his mother and father Ellen and Oscar Pearson. Bob was born in Wood Mountain, SK on July 14, 1932. After graduation he took a job with SaskTel as a lineman and moved to Eston, SK where he met his wife Betty and started to raise a family. His 35 year SaskTel career took them to many towns with one longer stay in Humboldt and then on to Saskatoon for the remaining 47 years. Upon his retirement he started a company doing contract work with the Land and Easement Department at SaskTel. At age 65 he was just warming up and started farming to be more involved in Betty’s family farm. Bob also worked contracts for SaskTel International. The telephone switching equipment he installed in Eston in 1955 was sold to Ontario and he installed it again in Barry, ON in the late 80’s. He also traveled to Africa for another project. Bob loved to fly. Money saved when he quit smoking paid for his Pilots license, Commercial and eventually his Instructors endorsement. He started teaching flying lessons for Mitcheson’s Flying Service on weekends and that eventually lead to full time employment with them. In the late 70’s he bought a lot at Jan Lake and built a cabin there. It was his refuge where he loved to fish and he emphatically retained the natural and rustic state of the property. He especially loved taking friends and family here. Besides the cabin his leisure time involved winter family ski vacations, travels to B.C., Scotland, Australia and spending a month in Mesa, AZ every February. He was constantly at his grandchildren's activities supporting whatever endeavour they were in. They were his pride and joy. Bob was respected and liked by all who knew him. He was forever helping someone just because he could. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army (339 Avenue C South, Saskatoon, SK, S7M 1N5) A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 5th at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor Street) For those unable to attend, web casting will be available at www.windsorchapelsaskatoon.com.
