October 25, 1956 – August 26, 2024
Rod passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26th, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. He faced his diagnosis, treatment, and the challenges that followed with unwavering determination, dignity, and grace.
Born in Aberdeen, Rod moved to Montgomery Place in Saskatoon at an early age. From the start he embraced life with zest, inheriting his Father’s dry sense of humor and sharing joy with those around him. An athlete at heart, Rod played hockey as a child and quickly fell in love with the sport of lacrosse. He pursued a career as a painter by trade, making Saskatoon his primary home while also traveling across the Western provinces for work. Rod’s passion for holistic healing led him to become a certified ‘Three In One’ practitioner, and his character, kindness, and aura of acceptance drew in many close and lifelong friends and families wherever he went.
Rod is lovingly remembered by his daughter Jacqueline Frecon, son John Frecon (and their mother Nicole), and daughter Kelly Peters (and her mother Marlene). His memory and legacy continue through his son-in-law Jade Peters, daughter-in-law Jazmyn Garnis, and his cherished grandchildren Artyenna, Eric, Wyatt, Olivia, and Emery. He is also survived by his sister Karen MacDonald, as well as numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends, all of whom join together to mourn his passing and celebrate his remarkable life.
Rod was predeceased by his parents, Bette (1995) and Jack (2007) MacDonald, his brother Scott (2010) MacDonald, and his sister Beverly (2022) MacDonald.
A Celebration of Rod’s Life will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Acadia Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon). Arrangements are in care of Ryan Lensen.
