On January 18, 2013 we marked the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Sam Ok Wong. Sam was born on April 20, 1935, to Guy Wong and Chew Moon Gam near Haiping, Guongdong, China. Sam immigrated to Canada in 1951 to join his father in Gull Lake, SK, where he attended school and assisted in his father’s shoe repair shop. He earned a B.Sc. in Engineering at the U of S, and had a successful career working for the provincial government. Sam lived in Saskatchewan for 61 years, residing in Gull Lake, Regina, and Saskatoon.
Sam was a man that greatly valued his family and close friends. He cherished the time that he spent with his grandchildren and family dogs, Ben and Teddy. He had a thirst for knowledge, and valued hard work and education.
Sam is survived by his wife, Kam Wong, his two children Connie (Al) and Peter (Rachel); and his four grandchildren Jason, Drake, Lily and Andrew.
A Celebration of Sam’s life took place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26th at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre; 915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK.
