December 24, 1941 - March 13, 2019
Sharon passed away peacefully in the early morning hours at the age of 77. She is survived by daughters Brenda (Ernie Brossart) and Joanne, grandsons Jordan (Nadine) Brossart and Luke Brossart, and by her sister Marilyn. Sharon is also survived by brother-in-law Bill Hodges (Aurlie) of Regina; sister-in-law Jacqueline Blevins (Joseph) of Edmonton; as well as nieces and nephews, Lisa, Margot, Glen, Curtis, Nevin, Alex, Ellen, and their extended families. Sharon was predeceased by her husband Ron Hodges in 2017, parents Harold and Ivy Heighes, sister Sandra Heighes, brother Bill Heighes, and niece Margo. Sharon lived all her life in Saskatoon, except for a short time while her husband began his teaching career in Biggar. Although she remained at home while her children were young, she eagerly rejoined the workforce in 1975. Sharon thoroughly enjoyed her employment at the University of Saskatchewan; where most significant roles included clerical duties with the College of Medicine, while earning a Certificate in Business Administration and as Secretary to the Dean of Agriculture. Sharon took great pride in her strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, and she appreciated the same from others. Sharon was equally meticulous regarding fashion; especially footwear, handbags, lipstick, hairstyles, and of course, sunglasses. She spent countless hours raising dogs – and was instrumental in the establishment of Minnetonka Boxers. Sharon suffered a debilitating stroke several years ago, and continued to live at ‘the acreage’, independently until 2008. Faced with ongoing health issues, complicated by dementia, Sharon moved to Circle Drive Special Care Home (CDSCH) in April 2009. She resided there until her passing. As per Sharon’s wishes, there will be no funeral. The family is grateful for the extraordinary, compassionate care that Sharon received from the CDSCH family. Donations in Sharon’s memory can be made to Circle Drive Special Care Home, 3055 Preston Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK S7T1C3.
