

Lorie passed away peacefully at the age of 66 on June 8th, 2021, surrounded by her family. Lorie is predeceased by her son Brad Carey; her father Bud Brooks and her mother & father-in-law Ethel and Murray Carey.
Lorie is survived by her husband Edward Carey their son Robert, his children Tomas and Adara, daughter Cynthia and her daughter Amber. Brad’s surviving family wife Audrey, daughters Emily and Erin. Her Mother Irene Brooks, brother Brian Polischuk, his daughter Kristen and her children as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lorie was born in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan on April 14th, 1955, to Irene Polischuk. Lorie moved to Regina where she attended Scott Collegiate, Lorie took 3 years of university and Kelsey Institute to become a Lab technologist. During that time, she met the man of her dreams. They moved to Saskatoon with their 2 boys to start their amazing life.
Lorie was an amazing woman, smart, strong, and focused. Anything she wanted to accomplish she did. She was the glue that held our family together.
Lorie started her career as a lab tech but quickly moved up to become the manager of hematology for the Medical Art laboratory. She loved her job and the people she worked with and formed lasting friendships. She then moved on to be the manager for Information Systems Saskatoon Health Region (IT department). From there she went to work for Canada Health Infoway (My eHealth). Lorie was recognized for the 2019 LOINC Award for Distinguished Contributions. Lorie travelled all over Canada and the USA giving lectures on LOINC.
In addition to Lorie’s amazing career, she also dedicated her time to raising money for SCH foundation. She was on the board for the Festival of Trees. She decorated a few trees herself and managed Gingerbread Lane. Lorie was instrumental in the creating the first 24-hour day care in Regina back in 1976.
In Lorie’s spare time she was a Mary Kay rep, sold Epicure, loved to read and was learning to become a Body talk practitioner. She and her mom made the best seedless raspberry jam and planted flowers every year.
Lories passion was traveling. She traveled all over the world: Australia, London, England, Paris, Ireland, Cuba, Disneyland, Mexico, Dominican Republic, New York, Boston, LA, San Francisco, a Cruise to Belize and Key West and an Alaskan Cruise. Maui, Hawaii was her favorite. She travelled through all the Canadian provinces. She loved to get in their motor home and go. Mom loved to travel with her family. Her favorite travel companions were her brother in-law Gerry and his wife Shirley who was her sister in-law and her best friend, they traveled everywhere together.

Lorie was an outstanding Woman Mother and Friend. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July 31st from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at the Saskatoon Inn. Lorie’s family would like to thank the Doctor’s, nurses and staff at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care for their endless kindness and compassion.
