PATRICK, WALTER GERALD. Our beloved Brother, Uncle, Father and most special Grandfather “Wally” was born August 23, 1933 and passed away peacefully June 7, 2015 in Red Deer, Alberta. He leaves his sons Brad, Chris, Tom (Tara); daughter Gail (Allan Genest); sisters Pat Boechler and Mary Patrick; brother Bill (Vivian); numerous nieces and nephews; and most specially, his grandchildren: Kelsey, Colby, Jeslin, Alexandra, Mackenzie, Samantha, Kadence and Ryker. Wally was predeceased by his parents Anthony & Annie (Ostapiuk); brothers Jim (Josephine), Mike (Ann), Nick (Olive); sisters Julia (Andrew Daly), Olga (John Hnatuk); brother-in-laws Arnold Schatz, Victor Boechler; nephews Mickey Hnatuk, Micheal Patrick; and nieces Marlene Ranville, Gail Msezane. Wally was born in Humboldt and attended schooling in Saskatoon. Wally spent most of his years in Saskatoon and Calgary until his last year of life when he moved to Red Deer, AB to be closer to his children. Wally toughed it out as the youngest child within a family of eight older siblings whom taught him, protected him, moulded him…. sometimes probably picked on him, but most importantly loved him throughout his life. He had a unique bond with each and every one of them. Wally was a very talented young hockey player with the Saskatoon Wesley’s and he defined his role in the 1953-54 season scoring 3 goals and racking up 46 penalty minutes in 37 games. He always told stories of touring Europe with the Saskatoon Senior Quakers. Wally dabbled in many professions but will always be remembered by his memories of working with his family at Patrick Construction and Patrick Redi-Mix and later with his sons Brad and Chris. His true passion was surely his years operating his tables at the flea market. He was the original auction hunter long before television glorified it. Wally could always be found at the auction and then proudly displaying his treasures for sale at the flea market on the weekends. Not a single extended Patrick family home is free of one of Wally’s ‘Brand New’ items! Wally truly loved his family and all the gatherings of his immediate and extended families. Wally was everything our family could have hoped for in a father and grandfather and he will be missed greatly. The Prayer Service will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at 7pm and the Divine Liturgy will take place Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10am, both services will be held from St. Volodymyr Villa Chapel (3102 Louise Place, Saskatoon).
