1923 – 2025
It is with great love and sadness that the family of Wanda Bleich announces her peaceful passing on October 13, 2025, at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Saskatoon, at the remarkable age of 102.
Wanda was born in Lemburg, Saskatchewan, in 1923, to parents Frank and Margaret Huget and then lived her adult life in Saskatoon.
Wanda was a graduate of the Regina Grey Nun’s School of Nursing. She began her career at the tuberculosis sanatorium in Fort San, Saskatchewan, where she met her future husband, Erwin, a World War II Veteran, and patient at the facility. Once their children came along, Wanda retired from her nursing career and focused her caregiving skills on her family.
Wanda was blessed with a long, happy, and healthy life – living independently until January of this year. She was passionate about golf and played socially well into her seventies. Her distinctive laugh and joyful spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband Erwin, daughters Lynn and Donna, and granddaughter Trisha. Wanda is remembered by her son Doug (Barb); grandsons Bret (Amy), Bill, and Derrick (Raquel); and great-grandchildren Sawyer, Lincoln, and Charlotte.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their kindness, compassion, and exceptional care.
Her life will be celebrated in a private family gathering.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association in her memory.
