1960-2025
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a cherished father, brother, and friend. Wesley Maroniuk was called home to be with God on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at the young age of 65.
Wes was born in Humboldt, SK, and raised on the family farm just outside of Peterson, SK. From a young age, Wes embraced the farm life wholeheartedly. He took extraordinary pride in growing up on the land where his father, Michael, instilled in him the values of hard work, discipline, and dedication—his work ethic was evident. Wes often chose to stay home from school to lend a hand with seeding, harvesting, or daily farm upkeep—never out of obligation, but out of a genuine love for the land.
Wes attended school in Bruno, SK, where he discovered his love for broomball, playing for the high school’s team, the Clubs. After graduation, he continued to play as a goaltender for Best Western Kings which then became Dog n’ Suds Kings. He was incredibly proud of their team’s success, especially their opportunities to compete at national broomball tournaments—memories he cherished and recounted often.
Wes found deep fulfillment in his career as a truck driver. In his early 20s, he launched his professional journey with Kindersley Transport, where his passion for the open road truly began. He later transitioned to working for his private employer, Will, proudly hauling goods for Federated Co-op in Saskatchewan. Wes took exceptional pride in both the private company he represented and the rig he operated. He was never more at peace than when he was behind the wheel, and he upheld an impeccable, incident-free driving record throughout the 15 dedicated years he drove for Will.
Even with the immense pride he held for his career, to Wes, his greatest life accomplishment was his daughter, Alyson. She was the light of his life, his heart outside his body. No matter where he went or who he spoke with, Wes never missed a chance to talk about her — his unwavering love and admiration for her was limitless.
Wes is predeceased by his brother Brian Maroniuk, along with his mother and father Pauline and Michael Maroniuk, who we know were waiting for him with open arms when God called him home.
Wes will be immeasurably missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Alyson (Austin); his brother, Darren (Charlene); along with his nieces, nephews, cousins, and of course, his many friends who genuinely knew the true depth of his heart.
While Wes requested there be no fuss of a service, Alyson believed it was only fitting to hold a Celebration of Life in his memory as he left lasting impressions on many, often unknowingly, and he deserves to be celebrated for giving us the gift of him.
Celebration of Dad’s life will take place on Friday, June 20th, at Windsor Chapel (Corner of 7th and Windsor Street), followed by a gathering at Wes’s favourite place to hang out, Cracker’s Karaoke Lounge. Dad never missed an opportunity to enjoy a cold beer full of ice on karaoke night. All who knew and loved him are welcome and strongly encouraged to join in honouring his memory.
I would like to extend my utmost gratitude, love, and blessings to all that have contributed in dad’s GoFundMe or personally sent donations for dad’s funeral expenses. Because of you all I am able to hold a proper farewell for my father. I will never be able to thank you all enough. From the bottom of my heart—being able to do this is one of the greatest gifts I will ever receive.
Daddy, I love you so much. You will forever be remembered for the man you truly were—your infectious laughter, the endless stories you shared, and your ability to bring them to life. I promise to continue your legacy and carry your memory alongside me, always.
