Happy Bd mom

May 6, 2013

It is almost mother's day and I am thinking of you more than ever. I was feeling sad and decided to make a cherry pie. I did all the things you taught me. Ice cold water and not too much handling of the dough. I felt a connection and although the crust did not come close to the flaky ones u make...it was a beautiful pie and a even better experience.

My deep and sincere sympathy is with Beryl's remaining family members in their sad loss. I am Beryl's first cousin; her Dad (Frank Trickey) was my Mother (Pearl Trickey)'s brother. Beryl and I, with her sister Yvonne and my brother Jack grew up sharing many happy fun times, visiting back and forth between our homes (MacTier for the Trickeys) and Sault Ste. Marie for the Collins family (Pearl and Gordon). I have many happy memories of the fun times we shared then, and in her later years. Beryl was famous for her lemon pies!! Attached photo is Beryl's Father Frank Trickey (standing) with his brother Archie Trickey, circa 1913, from the collection of Gregory Barr, son of Wilma and Norm Barr (daughter of Archie).

A good time learning to knit washcloths. Just can't seem to get those edges. Loved you then and forever.

So sorry to hear of Beryl's passing. I was one of George's home care nurses for quite some time and enjoyed both George and Beryl's humour on each visit. She was a beautiful lady and will be missed.
