Charlie is survived by his sister Brigitte Bittner and his brother Brian Bittner. He is predeceased by both parents, Doris and John Bittner and his younger sister Shirley Bittner (Dan).
Charlie lived a life filled with connection, joy, and genuine warmth. A proud resident of Community Living Algoma, Charlie made his home in community-based housing with 24-hour supports, where he was surrounded by care, encouragement, and friendship. Charlie lived with Cerebral Palsy, a part of his journey that never defined him but instead highlighted his strength, resilience, and unique spirit.
Charlie was deeply admired by those who knew him. He was known for his infectious laugh that could instantly brighten a room, his great sense of humour, and his easy going nature. Charlie dressed well and took pride in his appearance. He had a wonderful personality and a strong sense of self, always knowing his likes and dislikes and expressing them in his own way to his Team.
Affection and connection were important to Charlie. He enjoyed being hugged and found great joy in spending time outdoors, especially when the weather was pleasant. Whether taking leisurely walks with his support workers in the park or helping his team tend to his garden, Charlie loved nurturing plants, breathing in the fresh air, and appreciating the simple beauty of nature.
Charlie cherished the friendships he formed within the St. Anne's Manor community. These relationships enriched his life, and he took great pride in being part of a welcoming neighbourhood where lasting memories were created. The team, which supported him with dedication and compassion played an important role in his daily life. Charlie cherished all of his friendships especially that of Kathy Zakrocki.
Charlie will be remembered for his laughter, kindness, style, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His presence touched many lives, and he leaves behind a legacy of friendship, warmth, and love
that will not be forgotten.
The family would like to thank Community Living Algoma for all of their dedication, compassion and supports to Charlie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with Family and Friends. Interment to take place at the Carlyle Cemetery.
