Daughter of the late Rose Wsiaki (Steinke). Dearest mother of Cecil Preston (Donna), Lorie Martin (Billie), Gary Preston, Kim Petersen (Ole), Terry Theberge (the late Maurice), Bradley Preston (Tammy), Alan Preston (deceased), and Rosemary Nelson. Predeceased by Sisters, Ruby Rowlinson (James), Hilda Rowlinson (Lloyd), Winnifred Herbert (Marvin), Jackie MacDonald (Francis), and brothers Gilbert (Violet), Russel Steinke, John Steinke (Gail) and the late Melvin Steinke. Loving Gram and Great-Gram and Aunt to many.
Mom loved and wanted to thank all of her Extendicare Van Daele family of staff and residents, as well as her very best and lifelong friend, Louise Van Daele and her family.
She wanted to share this meaningful poem with all her loved ones:
"I was standing at the seashore, a bird spread its white wings to the morning breeze and then took flight for the ocean…an object of beauty as I stood watching till at last, she faded on the horizon. Someone at my side said “She is gone. Gone Where? Gone from my sight, that is all.” The loss of sight is only in me and just at the moment of fading there are others rejoicing in her coming. Other voices take up the glad shout. “There she comes!” ….and that is dying." - unknown.
A private cremation has been held. We had a family celebration of life with our mother during the 4 days of her passing. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to Women in Crisis would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522). We would like to thank and give a special mention to her grandchildren, Alan and Holly Knight, Joe Marrello, Jesse Marello and Aimee Beaulieu for holding her hand and lovingly supporting her throughout her journey. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
