a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best,
Gino will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Gino was born on November 13, 1933 in Ofena, Aquilla, Italy. He was
the son of Antonio and Francesca and a brother to six siblings, Domenic,
Mario, Eda, Dora, Antonette and Nina.
Gino was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his
siblings as they grew up in a close knit family.
They experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared
many life experiences over the years.
Always considered a "good" friend to those he knew, Gino enjoyed a
broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his
lifetime. While growing up his best friend was Carlo D'Orazio and later in
life, he befriended Tony Granchelli, Francesco D'Orazio, Vince D'Orazio and
lifelong neighbour Peter Pettalia.
On August 17, 1957 Gino exchanged wedding vows with Irma Mancini at
St. Veronicas Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and they were blessed
with four children, late Paula, Louie, Richard and Lori. Another blessing
for Gino was the gift of two grandchildren, Alexis and Ethan.
Fortunately, Gino enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a
strong work ethic, he worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his
career. His primary occupation was a crane operator. He was employed for
35 years at Algoma Steel Corporation. Gino always sought to be a team
player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Gino enjoyed his leisure time playing cards, riding his bike,
enjoying long walks around the neighbourhood, when he wasn't spending the
day out in his garden. Gino had such a passion for gardening and would
love to share it with family and friends. He was content to enjoy his
favorite pastimes alone but was also happy to spend his interests with
others.
He was a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events
whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were boxing, hockey
and soccer.
Throughout his life, Gino was a doer and was always actively
involved. As his faith was important to him, he remained a loyal member of
the congregation of St. Veronica's Parish for 35 years. Throughout his
later years, Gino was an active member of the Marconi Society.
Gino enjoyed travelling and time away on vacations to visit family
and do some site seeing. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to
visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included
family vacations to Toronto, Windsor, Detroit, Niagara Falls, and Italy.
When Gino's retirement finally arrived on February 29th, 1992, he
was well prepared. His new life involved staying in Sault Ste. Marie.
Even in retirement, Gino continued to stay in touch with his old friends
while making plenty of new acquaintances. He was active in his new
community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
Gino passed away on December 19, 2012 at the FJ Davey Home in Sault Ste.
Marie, Ontario. He had Parkinsons disease and suffered from liver
failure. Services were held at Arthur Funeral Home. Gino was laid to rest
in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Simply stated, Gino was a good and kind person, an individual who
will forever be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring
and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Gino
leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished
memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Gino
Mancini.
If I only had, two words left to say to you.
With my last breath I'd *confess* the truth to you.
You've never left my side, even when I fell behind.
Thank-you,
Thank-you for the life you've given me.
Thank-you for sharing all your love and your dreams.
Thank-you for every tear of happiness I've cried.
Thank-you for laying down *beside me here tonight.
When I close my eyes, I say a prayer for one more day with you.
And when I wake, I embrace the one who pulls me through.
Who pulls me through the storm when I can't go on.
Thank-you,
Thank-you for the life you've given me.
Thank-you for sharin' all your love and all your dreams.
Thank-you, for every tear of happiness I've cried.
Thank-you for layin' down *beside me here tonight.
You've never let me down.
Its like you don't know how.
Thank-you,
Thank-you for the life you've given me.
Thank-you, for sharin all your love and your dreams.
Thank-you.
Thank-you.
Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
One step closer
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
