

STROM, Gladys (Johnson) – Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Alvar Strom. Loving mother of Karl Morin-Strom (Bernadette) of North Bay, Eric Strom (Margaret), Nancy Jarvis (Mike) and Sandra Strom-Thibodeau (Brent). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Marie and Ingrid Morin-Strom, Karin Pratte (John), Adam, Erica and Neil Strom, and Kyle and Katrina Thibodeau (Dave). Special great-grandmother of Gus Morin-Strom and Anna Pratte. Daughter of the late Aune and Arvid Johnson. Cherished sister of Caroline Lenover (late Jerry) of Winnipeg. Sister-in-law of the late Astrid Marinich (late Jockey), late Arne (Terry), late Leonard (late Geri) and Elmer Strom (Dorothy) of Toronto. Caring aunt to many nieces and nephews. Gladys was born in Sault Ste. Marie to a Finnish mother and a Swedish father and she lived her entire life on Pine Street. Every summer she enjoyed gatherings with family and friends at Goulais Bay. She was a teacher of young children at King George Public School and she had a passion for music. Gladys taught piano to many including all of her grandchildren. She spent years as organist, choir director and choir member as a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church. She also sang with the Algoma Festival Choir. Gladys dedicated her life to her family, her music and her faith. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Funeral service will be at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 9:30 am. Reverend Brad Mittleholtz officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
