RUSSELL, Glenn Lennon – The family announces with sorrow his passing at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the age of 69. Loved and cared for until his final hour by his wife Linda (nee Downs). Sadly missed by his son Kevin (Joanne) and daughter Kathy (Joe Johnston). Cherished grandfather of Amber, Kyla and great grandfather of Kayla. Dear brother of Phyllis Woolsey (Keith) and Dorothy Meecham (late Len). Dear brother-in-law of Dave Downs (Betty). Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Myrle (Thompson), his brother Graham and his sister Grace (Howard Favereau). Beloved son-in-law of the late Everett and Wilma Downs. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Glenn was born in Shawville, Quebec on April 10, 1944. His family later moved to North Bay where he met his life partner Linda in high school. He moved with Linda to Sault Ste. Marie to start a family and begin lifelong employment with Algoma Steel, retiring in 1999. Glenn was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing with Marcel Dupuis, Mike Dupuis and the rest of the gang at Montreal River. Later in life Glenn became an avid 10 pin bowler with both a perfect 300 game and a 799 triple during league play to his credit. Glenn’s medical issues robbed him of his mobility during his final years but did nothing to diminish his keen sense of humor. The family wishes to thank all of the medical professionals who were involved in his care during his long illness. In particular we cherished the compassion, love and support of his homecare nurses Jenna and Bernie who made his final days more comfortable. At Glenn’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation followed by interment at a later date. Memorial donations to ARCH would be appreciated by the family. (Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 705-759-2522). Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
