December 1, 1930May 15, 2020

MAJIC, John - With heavy hearts and deep regret, we announce the passing of our dear husband and father John Majic on Friday, May 15, 2020 in his 90th year.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Vinka (Lukenda), his sons Rob Majic (Vivian) and late Joseph, daughters Dr. Mary Ann Majic (Dr. John Kusnierczyk) and Patti-Lynn Cook (Jason). Cherished Dida of Matthew Majic, Caitlyn and Andrew Kusnierczyk, Ryan and Adam Cook. Survived by his sister Mary Vorlicek (Tony), brother-in-law Gento Lukenda (Ora), sisters-in-law Ana Mele (late Tony), Mira Primorac (late Ljubo),Vinka Mlinarevic (Tiho), Ljerka Jobst (Peter) and Snjezana St. Jules (Paul). Also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins and friends too numerous to mention but all very precious. Special friend of John and Vi Lukenda, Slobodan and Mila Eljuga, Gloria Gasparetto (late Ray) and Bob and Judy MacDougall. Predeceased by his parents Ivan Majic and Agnes (Vukovic), his in-laws Frano and Luca Lukenda, brother George Majic (Rolleen) and sister Agnes (Glen) Bussineau and his sister-in-law Olga Lukenda.

John was a man of strong Catholic principles and Croatian heritage, who lived his life by the credo of “Family, Faith and Friends”. He enjoyed growing up on Bush Street and attended Holy Angels School. Raising his family, tending his garden on Albert St. West and attending mass at Our Lady of the Highways, Blessed Sacrament Church and later St. Jerome’s occupied his time. He believed in paying it forward and brought over family from Bosnia-Herzegovina to start a better life. John walked to No. 2 Gate to work for years in the Mould Yard of Algoma Steel. Upon retirement, he and Vinka moved to Sutton Place. Summers were spent with family and friends trailering and then at “camp” in Brimley, Michigan. Winter brought sunny travels to Arizona, Florida, Cuba, Texas and the Dominican Republic. John’s pride and joy were his children and their successes and then spending time with his “sweethearts”- his grandchildren.

At this time, a small family funeral will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. Friends are invited to view the service online starting at 2:00 pm and can be viewed anytime up to 90 days, go to www.funeraweb.tv and select John's name. John will be interred in the family plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. However, as per his final wishes a Remembrance Mass will take place at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church when permissible. This date will be announced when available. Donations may be made for memorial masses at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, Light the Cross Foundation or Our Lady of the Highway Croatian Catholic Church. Special thanks to Bayshore Homecare nurses Holly and Marcie and to Dr. Booth and Dr. Barbeau for the incredible care and compassion they have shown. Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.

To the Majic Family,
We are very saddened to hear of John's passing. He will be missed by all of us. Every summer our journey would take us to the shores of Lake Superior and John and Vivian would be at Brimley enjoying the summer weather. John was always waiting with a smile and provided friendship and hospitality to all of us. He was in his glory relaxing and visiting during those times. Our condolences to the entire family at this time.

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Mr. Majic was always happy and kind when we spoke to him. He seemed so content at Brimley and in his home and always gazed at his grandchildren with pride and a sparkle in his eye. He raised beautiful, caring and successful children that will carry on his love of faith and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Special hugs for the Cook family.
