Joyce Mary MacFarlane

MACFARLANE, Joyce - June 5, 1930 – May 10, 2018 – Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Maple View nursing home in Sault Ste. Marie on May 10, 2018 at the age of 87. She was born on June 5, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Hazel (Boyce) Jefferies. On October 7, 1950 she married Earl MacFarlane in Desbarats. They were married for 63 years. Earl passed away on July 3, 2014. Joyce taught school for 39 years in Desbarats and retired in 1988. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, baking, church activities and spending time with all her grandchildren. Sister of the late, Ken Jefferies. Her first born daughter, Bonnie Ruth passed away on April 25, 1958 at the age of nine months. She is survived by her two sons and their spouses – Ian (Stephanie) North Manchester, Indiana and Craig (Patti) Zionsville, Indiana. Devoted grandmother of Crystal, John, Dalton, Raven, Derek, Ashley, Morgan, Stacy, and Brady. Great grandmother of nine. Family and friends are invited to the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. – 705-759-2522) on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Craig Rankin officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Desbarats Baptist Church in care of Joyce MacFarlane. She will be missed dearly.
