EVANS, Juanita Leona Theresa (nee Sherrard) - It is with deep love and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Nana. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the F.J. Davey Home on October 26, 2025, at the age of 77.
Juanita married the love of her life, the late Gary Evans, on August 13, 1966. Together, they built many homes and carried their love, laughter, and faith wherever they went. After missing him for nine years, they are now lovingly reunited, dancing among the stars.
She was the cherished mother of Tammy Evans (Jamie), the late Edith Evans (Bryan), Tracy Webb (Rick), and Tricia DeVos (Julian). She was also mother-in-law to the late Richard Piazza. Juanita was the proud Nana of Taylar Piazza, Paul Piazza (Chelsea), Tyler Evans (Krystal), Cassie Evans (Paul), Hannah Syms (Brandon), Chuck Webb (Tiana), Megan DeVos (Maddy), Joey DeVos, and Great-Nana to Sierra Evans.
Born on August 8, 1948, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Juanita was the daughter of the late Edith and late George Sherrard. Daughter-in-law to the late Stanley and late Emma Evans. She was the loving oldest sister of Kathy Mooney (late Ray), George Sherrard (Lauri), Lillian Sherrard, Ina Shaughnessy (Randy), Johnny Sherrard (Kathy), and Barbara Tauvette (Chris). Sister-in-law to the late Harold (late Ann), the late Bobby (late Penny), and Clifford (Dorothy). She will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be fondly remembered by her second family at F.J. Davey Home.
Juanita was an avid fan and season ticket holder for many years of her Soo Greyhounds. She also loved her Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. She cherished spending time at Ranger Lake, knitting sweaters for her family, baking, and creating memories with her grandchildren.
We found this quote written by Nana in her Bible, which beautifully reflects the love she had for her grandchildren: "To me, one of God’s greatest gifts to us is our grandchildren. I love and appreciate my grandchildren so much and I thank God daily for them and pray that someday they will each come to know Jesus their Saviour. They are all very special and precious each in their own way." - Nana
