PINE, Karen Jennifer -1971-2018 - It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Karen Jennifer Pine, resident of Garden River First Nation. The creator quietly and peacefully called her home on Wednesday, March 15, 2018. Karen had a calling to venture many places and meet many people across Canada but, settled in Vancouver where she called home. She spoke of her experiences and always made a point to laugh. Although there was a distance she held her family bonds close. Karen showed no boundaries for the people she loved and connected to during her journey on earth. She will be greatly missed for her laughter, care-free spirit and large personality. She will be missed by partner Raymond Gauthier, her parents Charles Pine and Joanne Pine (Neyland), sister Linda Pine, brother Thomas Pine (Theresa Agawa). Karen will be missed by many nieces and nephews, Ronald, Jason (Allysia Solomon), Malachi, Joanna, Cheyanne, Coleton (Jaydyn Edgar), Chastity, Kirsten and Anung, Ashley Gregoire (Raymond Gregoire) and a great nephew Michael, as well as too many other aunts and uncles to mention. She was predeceased by paternal grandparents John Pine and Elizabeth Pine, maternal grandparents, Alexander Neyland and Edith Neyland, brother Mitchell Pine, brother Kevin Pine and nephew Curtis Pine, nephew Walter Duggan, niece Katherine Chmilewski-Pine. Friends may visit at the Garden River Community Centre on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 12 noon until time of the funeral service on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 1 pm. A traditional ceremony will be held by James Roach. Interment Garden River Catholic Cemetery. A special thanks to Karen’s great many friends, staff at St. Paul’s Hospital, Providence Healthcare unit in Vancouver, British Columbia, Fire Keepers and volunteers as well as the Garden River First Nation and the Garden River Fire Department.
