Lynda Newman

Passed away peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice with family by her side on Friday, February 6, 2026. Much loved wife of almost 60 years to the late Edward Newman who predeceased her in April of 1999.

Daughter of the late Henry and late Myrtle Royer (Dobson). Dearly loved sister of Bruce Royer, Blanche Aho (late Don) and the late David Royer (Cindy). Special bonus sister of Lois Powers. Lynda was especially close to her niece Carrie Shrigley (Joe) and her nephew Brian Aho (Allison) and their children, Tyler and Kayla Shrigley and Dylan, Emersyn and Presley Aho. Lynda was also the much loved aunt and great aunt to many more nieces and nephews on our side of the family.

In marrying Edward Newman back in 1966, Lynda was lovingly accepted into his family, who she remained extremely close to. Daughter-in-law to the late Edgar and late Mary Newman. Sister-in-law of the late Anthony (Patricia) Newman, June (Gilles) Guindon, late Valeria (late Tom) LeClair, Sandra (Hank) Baltussen, late Donald Newman, and Mary Lou (Andy) Kairiss. Adored aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Special friend to Gerry Masse and his family over the last decade. Lifelong, dear friend of many.

Special thank you to all of the family and friends who were with Lynda over her week at Arch. Your visits, calls and thoughts, meant the world to her. Immense gratitude to the staff and volunteers who took such amazing care of her; you truly are angels on earth.

In respect of Lynda's wishes, there will be no service. Family will gather at a later date for an interment service. Lynda took immense pride in the fact that she helped spearhead the creation of, and the fundraising for ARCH, so in lieu of flowers, memorial donations (made by cheque or online) to ARCH, in her name, would be much appreciated.
