Marlene was born in Malahide Township to Lindley and Mabel Stafford, sister to the late Marjorie Sommerville (Carl) and the late Jean Stafford and brother Don Stafford (Tilly). Marlene spent her grade school years at Jaffa Public School and attended East Elgin Secondary School. Her married life was spent farming with her husband and raising their four children on a dairy farm on Highway #3, 3 miles east of Aylmer. Marlene also worked off the farm, in Aylmer at the Imperial Tobacco Company, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Terrace Lodge.
Marlene was an avid gardener and an excellent horsewoman. She took Reigning Classes and participated in Team Penning held at Walker Farms and also judged at local horse shows. She was a member and supporter of the Aylmer Fair Board and was always up for riding her horses in the Aylmer Parades. In retirement Marlene also spent time volunteering at the Salvation Army Store in Tillsonburg.
Marlene spent the last 8 1/2 years in Sault Ste. Marie with family close by. Her family are very thankful for the welcoming community, staff and friends she made at Chartwell Collegiate Heights Retirement Residence and the Great Northern Retirement Home. They are also very thankful to all the staff of the F.J. Davey Home who cared for Marlene in the last few years of her life, especially the Angels of Apple 2. Many thanks to all the medical doctors and staff who attended her in Sault Ste. Marie and at the Sault Area Hospital.
