ENAIR, Melvin Albert "Mel" - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Melvin Albert Enair, who went home to be with the Lord in the early hours of Thursday, March 19, 2026, just three weeks shy of his 72nd birthday.
Mel was a devoted husband of Sue Enair for 43 years and a proud, loving father of Benjamin and Joshua (Chantal). Cherished papa of Saphira, Talon (Akaysha), Joshua Jr., Robert, Michaela and Jacob. Great-papa of Cole. Beloved son of Russell and Gerty Enair, his birth mother Harlene Newton, mother-in-law, Effie McIntyre and father-in-law, the late James McIntyre. Caring brother of the late Roy (late Donna) and Chuck (Ginette), and sibling-in-laws, May (Andreas), late Mary (Gerry) and Nancy (Jacob). Special nephew of Reg Newton (Pat). Dear Uncle 'moo-moo' of Kelly and son Nick, Kimmy (Len) and daughter Jenna, Chris and family, Lori, Carrie, Kendra, Julie (Scott), Karen, Emily (Andy) and Travis. Mel will be greatly missed by many cousin, friends and extended family. His love for his family was steady, generous and unwavering. He found his greatest joy in time spent together.
A faithful member of the Free Methodist Church community, Mel lived a life rooted in his love for God. His faith guided his actions and was reflected in the compassion he showed to everyone he met. Throughout his working years, he dedicated himself to helping others as an addictions counsellor, Community Living Algoma support worker, porter at the Sault Area Hospital and volunteer for the Salvation Army. He was always ready to lend a hand or offer encouragement.
He found joy in life's simple, beautiful moments - feeding the squirrels and birds, sharing quiet time outdoors with Sue and bringing music into the lives of those around him. Mel loved to play the guitar and had a natural musical spirit that brought warmth and comfort to family and friends. He was also known for his sense of humour, always ready with a joke or a lighthearted comment that could lift the mood and bring a smile to anyone nearby.
Mel will be remembered as a gentle spirit, his steady faith and his ability to make others feel seen, cared for and at ease. His presence was a blessing, his laughter a gift and his life a reflection of God's love.
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." - Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
Though his passing was sudden, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. As it is written, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want... Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." - Psalm 23:1,6.
A Celebration of Mel's life will be held at St. Joseph Island Free Methodist Church (1589 Hilton Rd., Hilton Beach) on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 1:00 pm, following the service at 3:00 pm with Pastor Musa Daba officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph Island Free Methodist Church, in honour of his lifelong commitment to helping others and the love and support received by him church family. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East; 705-759-2522).
