After a long and healthy life, in her 95th year, she now joins her husband Essio. Devoted mother of Vera Berlingieri (Tony), Eric Capancioni (Janie) and Brenda Capancioni. Loving nona of Paul Berlingieri (Sherry), Andrea Berlingieri, Rob Capancioni (Alexandra), Marc Capancioni (Jennifer) and Alyssa Katagis (Peter). Nona was overjoyed to be blessed with seven beautiful great grandchildren Luciana, Max, Liam, Leo, Emmie, Neilo and Mateo. Daughter of the late Antonio and Celestina Girardi. She was the youngest of five children and will now join her siblings Gino, Aldo, Elsie and Delchi. Aunt of many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A devoted wife and mother, family was most important to her, and she was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Her kitchen was always open and she took great pleasure in sharing food and recipes. She was an incredible cook and baker and we will especially miss her Tieplates, Genetti's, Ravioli, Christmas Pizza Piena and Easter Bread.
Mom loved people and any one who knew her was touched by her friendliness, sense of humour and her kind heart.
She was a long time employee at the Market Mall Pharmacy, a lifelong member of the Elettra Marconi Society and volunteered for many years at the General and Sault Area Hospitals. Mom loved her cats and had many in her home over the years, with her favourite being Stella.
Thank you to her friends Betty Signoretti, (late) Jean Lajambe and family, Pauline Gallagher, Theresa Barsanti and Loredana Salvalaggio for their love and support. Mom dearly missed her lifelong friend (late) Dina Fratesi and her (late) sister-in-law Edna Sartor, whose daily phone calls brightened her day.
Mom spent the last four years of her life at Pathways Retirement Home, and we would like to thank James Noble and his entire staff for the loving care given to our mother. Thank you also to the staff at Extendicare Maple View who made her last days comfortable and treated her with love, dignity and respect.
As per Norma's wishes, a private family funeral has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations (made payable by cheque or online) to SAH - Cancer Care Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated in her memory. Arrangements are entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522).
