Ruby Yeo Pogue

Ruby June Pogue was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Ruby will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

       She was the daughter of Thomas Yeo and Flora Manes. Ruby grew up in Oshawa,Ontario.

      Ruby was raised with seven siblings. She had six brothers, Norman,Raymond,Donald,Arthur, Cecil, Roy. And one sister Eva. Ruby was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

      Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Ruby enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up, some of her best friends were Bernice Choyce, Ina Pomery. Later in life, she became friends with Barb,Chris, Shirley.

      On January 8, 1955 Ruby exchanged wedding vows with Douglas John William Pogue at Northminster United Church of Oshawa Ont. Empathic and loyal, Ruby was committed to making her new family happy.

      Ruby worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Ruby was blessed with three children, Three daughters, Joan,June,Cathy. Another blessing for Ruby was the gift of six grandchildren,, Sabina, Jessie, Amos, Josh, Kelly Scotty.

      Fortunately, Ruby enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ruby worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was Coulter Plant, Tie Factory, Jewelry Store and Movie Theater. Ruby always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

      Ruby enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were Artex, knitting, crafts. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.

      Ruby’s faith was important to her. She was a member of the United Church since 1942. During that time, she was involved in U. C. W.

      Ruby enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included travelling throughout Canada in a homemade trailer, Europe, Cuba, Caribbean and the U. S.

      Ruby passed away on January 13, 2016 at F. J. Davey Home. She is survived by her children Joan,June and Cathy. Services were held at Arthur Funeral Home. Ruby was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.

      Simply stated, Ruby was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ruby leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Ruby Pogue.

POGUE, Ruby – With grace and dignity at the age of 86 on January 13, 2016 Ruby left this life in the manner in which she lived; quietly, uncomplaining and unassuming. She is now reunited with her late husband, Douglas who passed away in 1997. Beloved mother of June Masecar, Cathy Cipriano (Sam) and Joan Pogue. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren; Sabrina Vipond (Derek), Jessie Boston (Jamie), Amos Cipriano (Marion), Kelly Masecar-Hall (Adam), Scott Masecar and Josh Pogue. Great grandmother to eleven. Predeceased by her parents, six brothers and one sister. Following with her wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at 1 pm. Rev. Nancy Ferguson and Pastor Wesley Wood officiating. The family would like to invite everyone to join them for a time of fellowship and reception following the service. An interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that in Ruby’s style and memory, you perform an act of kindness for someone in her name. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Fritz and the F.J. Davey Home for the many years of caring and compassion.
