Winifred "Winnie" Myers

MYERS, Winifred “Winnie” – Peacefully passed away with her family by her side at the Algoma Manor in her 100th year on Saturday, August 20, 2011. Beloved wife of the late Stewart. Loving and devoted mother of Jean Palmer (Bill). Step mother of Stewart Jr. (Barbara and the late Noreen) and Rod Sr. (Joan). Cherished and much loved Nana of Lindsay Palmer, Riley Palmer (Matthew Gareau) and Lisa Palmer (Kellyn Chandler). Predeceased by sisters Betty Avery (Ted) and Rita Avery (Bob). Winnie will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was Nana to so many. Winnie never ever complained, always met what faced her head on and instilled her positive attitude to those whose lives she touched. She was a great nurturer and had a passion for gardening, cooking and reading. The doors at home were always open, everyone was always welcome and there was food for all. In keeping with Winnie’s wishes, a celebration of her life will be held at the Palmer Farm in Laird Township on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 5 – 8 pm. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Blois and the staff at the Algoma Manor for the care and special compassion shown to Winnie during her stay with them, especially during the last five weeks. Memorial donations can be made through the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre to the charity of your choice.
