

He was born on August 23, 1918 in McDonough, GA, the son of the late Manley Smith and the late Georgia Smith.
He served his country in the United States Air force for 20 years and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Smith was the recipient of 19 medals of honor, including the Bronze Star. After his retirement he worked for the civil service for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruby M. Smith; daughter, Betty Ray and her husband Charles; daughter, Jo Ann Quillen; son, Gary Smith and his wife Cheryl; brother Claude Smith; grandchildren, Alan, Lisa, John, Brian and Patrick; great-grandson, Ethan.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 3:30 pm. at Bonaventure Cemetery.
