

David Solomon Speir, Jr., 79, of Savannah, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at his residence. David was born January 16, 1932 in Savannah, GA, to David Solomon and Eudell Saturday Speir. He worked for M & M Supermarket and retired from Movsovitz Produce. After retirement he worked for Dan Vaden. He had also served in the U.S. Georgia Army National Guard. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Shirley Dupree and Lera Smith. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Brown Speir, son, David "Andy" Speir (Mary), and daughter, Patricia "Trisha" DeWitt; 4 grandchildren, Amy Speir, Joey DeWitt, David A. Speir, and Gregory A. Speir; 4 great grandchildren, Kyle, Austin, Shelby, and Grayson, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Fairhaven Funeral Home - Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
