

Delano A. Robbins, 77, of Savannah, GA, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 after a short illness. He was born on January 30, 1937 in Bath, SC to Austin and MaeDell Robbins. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Casey, infant daughter Tammy, sister Alethea Granna, and sister-in-law “Mama” Margie Robbins. Delano served in the United States Air Force as Radar Operator during the Korean Conflict. He served on the Savannah Fire Department for 32 years and retired in January of 1996 as a Master Firefighter. Following his retirement, he joined Dryden Enterprises (Hinesville, GA) where he had the pleasure of working with close family members as a construction supervisor for 10 years. He also served as President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Savannah Aerie, during 1994-1995. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, golfing, as well as dancing and bowling. Delano was always the rock of his family. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Diane, son Dale Robbins (Shari), daughter Debbie Robbins Rozier (Wayne), daughter Tina Robbins Pope (Joe), daughter Faye Cope, Stepdaughter Renee Griner (Buddy); granddaughters Ashley Rozier Chipple, Brittany Rozier, Rachel Robbins, and Alana Gaddis; grandsons Jacob Rozier, Frankie Gaddis, Toby Gaddis, Jake Griner, Josh Griner, and Jesse Griner; great-grandson Kohen Rozier; brother Herman Robbins and sister Lou Forrest (Dale); 14 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA Interment will be private.
