Evelyn Garmon O’Neal, 73, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 13, 2011. She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Garmon, and her father, Hollis Garmon. Evelyn was born in Atlanta, GA, but spent most of her life in Savannah raising her family. After moving to Savannah, Evelyn became employed with the U.S. Courts, Southern District, and retired after over twenty years of service. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, and avid reader, and greatly enjoyed writing personalized letters to friends and family. Evelyn O’Neal is survived by her husband of over 55 years Bobby L. O’Neal, son, Greg O’Neal and his wife Reba of Savannah, son Barry O’Neal and his wife Barbara of Savannah, and son Brian O’Neal and his wife Paula of Rincon, as well as grandchildren Kevin O’Neal, Matt O’Neal, Nikki O’Neal, Patrick O’Neal, Ashlyn O’Neal, Kelly O’Neal, and Leah O’Neal, and great granddaughter Brennley Drossopoulos. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Midkiff and her husband Leo of Atlanta. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Candler Hospital and Memorial Hospital for the love, care, and attention that they gave to Evelyn. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, November 16, at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Interment will be private.
