

Geneva Goddard Williams, age 87 passed away in Savannah, Georgia on Monday November 24, 2014 surroundd by her loving family and friends. Ms. Williams was one of twelve children born to Joe and Annie Goddard in Petros, Tennessee. At age 16, Ms. Williams moved to Savannah and resided in Savannah the remainder of her life.
Ms. Williams owned and operated G & W Properties and will be remembered for the kindness shown to her many tenants.
The community will remember her for the 38 years she provided care for her head-injured son, Bobby. Although she struggled with breast, ovarian, lung and stomach cancer, she always put her son’s needs above her own. Many have speculated that caring for her son may have helped her fight her 38-year battle with cancer which included 11 years of chemotherapy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Annie Goddard, her daughter Patricia Clayton Rushlow, her sisters Reba Cox, Marie Thornton, Anna Brock and Nina Gossett. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer, Lawerence and Kenneth Goddard.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Carter King, her son James R. Williams and her son Robert (Bobby) Williams, all of Savannah, her sisters, Louise Phelps of Powell, TN., Sarah Jane cox of Richmond, Michigan, Mary Ellen Morgan of Madison Heights, Michigan, a brother Glendon Goddard of Petros, TN.; grandsons, John H. Carter and Jeffrey L. Carter of Atlanta and Michael Clayton of Kingsport, TN.; great-grandchildren Mason and Lexi Carter of Atlanta; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10 – 11 am Saturday November 29, 2014 at Fairhaven Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr. Savannah, GA. 31406. Funeral service to follow in the Chapel with Rev. David Cleland officiating. Interment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
