

Jack Earl Davenport, 91, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Hospice Savannah, surrounded by his family. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and grew-up in and lived in Savannah, He retired from National Gypsum in 1985 after thirty-eight years of service. He was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church and was formerly a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 36. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruby Riggs Davenport; his parents, James Earl Davenport and Lillian Fralic Davenport; two brothers, Dr. James A. Davenport and William R. Davenport; and a grandson, Alex Jefferson Cornett. Survivors include his children, Debbie Williamson, Jackie Fall (Larry) and Susan Cornett (Robert), all of Savannah; grandchildren, Sean Williamson (Christina) of Greenville, SC, Ryan Williamson (Joanne) of Bluffton, SC, Heather Moore (Tyler) and Erin Cornett (fiancee’ John Saxon) of Savannah; four great-grandchildren, Molly, Ella and Pryce Williamson, and Lydia Moore; three sisters-in-law, Ouida Riggs, Betty Riggs and Nita Harley; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved feline companion, Sheena.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel located at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406. The Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel with the Reverend Billy Hester officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
