

Joanne Radocy Nelson – SAVANNAH – Joanne Radocy Nelson, 67, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Hospice Savannah after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Nelson was born in Toledo, Ohio March 27, 1947 to Joseph Anthony Radocy and Eleanor Trenchick Radocy. She was a graduate of McCauley High School in Toledo, Ohio. She was a floral designer for over 50 years with her work mostly at Barkley's, Linderman's, and Pink House Florist in Savannah. She was a member of the Savannah Elks Auxiliary serving two terms as President, a member of the Wymberly Garden Club where she served as President, and a member of the Isle of Hope Baptist Church. She had a love for art, flower and vegetable gardens, and was a devoted Christian. Survivors include her husband John L. Nelson; daughter Audra Marie Lofton of Winder, Georgia; grandchildren Caitlyn Eyre Lofton and Nelson Mayes Lofton; Brother Joseph Radocy (Connie) of Elyria, Ohio; Sister Janet Free (John) of Oregon, Ohio, several nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at Fairhaven Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel on Thursday, June 26, 2014 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Isle of Hope Baptist Church on Friday, June 27, 2014 beginning 11 a.m., graveside following at Elkins Family Cemetery with fellowship following at the Elks Lodge #183. Remembrances can be made to the Isle of Hope Baptist Church – Vision of Hope or Hospice Savannah.
