

She was born in Lyons, Ga., and was preceded in death by her husband, George Leslie Harrell.
Mae was retired from the Chatham County Board of Education, having served both as a Social Worker, and a teacher at Pennsylvania Ave Elementary School.
She was a lifelong member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, served as a teacher for the Special Needs Class (of which she founded), and also the Louise Freeman Sunday School, a member of the Women’s Missionary Society, the Wesleyan Service Guild, and the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa honorary organization for women educators and past President of the Georgia Epsilon Chapter of ADK.
She is survived by a son, George A. “Tony” Harrell, of Cumming, S.C., two daughters, Karen H. Jones (David) of Athens, Ga., and Rev. Cheryl D. Harrell, of Belcher Towne, Massachusetts; 1 grandson, 3 granddaughters, 7 great granddaughters, and 2 great grandsons.
Visitation: 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Meguiar and Rev. David Blalock, officiating.
Interment: Private at Keys United Methodist Church Cemetery at Adrian, Ga.
Remembrances: Aldersgate Christian Vocation Scholarship Fund, or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
