Mary Jane Carter Carter Fordham

Mrs. Fordham was born in Savannah, Ga., and was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Davis Fordham, and her parents, M. A., and Marjorie Carter.

She was retired from Dr. John Fillingim’s Office, and then went to work as an Accountant with Dr. Jeanne Hungerpiller. She was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church, where she served as Treasurer of the Church, a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, and the Eloise Black Circle.

She was a Graduate of Mercer University, with a BS Degree in English, and a Life member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Elder Benjamin Carter Fordham and his wife, Stacy Upson Fordham, of Savannah, Ga; sister and brother in law, Annette Carter Grooms and her husband, Troy Grooms of Sugar Hill, Ga., and a granddaughter, Maria Grace “Mia” Fordham of Savannah, Ga; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Primitive Baptist Church.

Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Keith Hamilton, Officiating.

Interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Mrs. Fordham will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Saturday to lie in state.
